Operation Lasting Peace
Safe Village is the local implementation of the Cease Fire, Illinois model. This model combines law enforcement efforts and community efforts to reduce homicides, shootings and stabbings in the highest areas of occurrence. These two identified areas are located in the Bolden Area Command (William 5 and William 6). The law enforcement components are able to address severe criminal activity within the geographically specified areas. The Southern Nevada Community Gang Task Force Operation Lasting Peace initiative addresses the community component, which empowers communities to take back their streets and neighborhoods. The overall approach of Cease Fire’s community component is based on defining violence as a disease. The Operation Lasting Peace implementation is helping change the norm of violence and addressing identified needs of community.

The mission of Operation Lasting Peace is to build stronger communities by working with residents to reduce violence using unique methods. Operation Lasting Peace helps residents improve and strengthen the health, safety and livability of their community through partnerships with faith-based organizations and other community groups and agencies.
Every neighborhood has its own special personality. Communities are more than statistics and stories that appear in the news. Operation Lasting Peace is based on the belief that residents know what is best for their neighborhood and have the ability to sustain positive change.
